THE ROACH HOME IMPROVEMENT STORY

Shaun Roach started Roach Home Improvement 16 years ago as a subcontractor working out of his home office and garage. During that time, he was working for general contractors and there were some instances where materials were not right for the job or they didn’t show up on time. The tipping point was when he was asked to cut corners to speed things up so he could get to another job that the general contractor was behind on. That is when Shaun kicked off a small advertising campaign to start working with homeowners directly to ensure that they got the right materials and a quality roofing job done right with the service they paid for. The business took off and some additional help was needed. Shaun made the call to his uncle, and Terry Roach entered the picture. First in 2011 as a consulting partner, then full time in the summer of 2012. With quality workmanship and service, Roach Home Improvement was outgrowing home offices, so Shaun Roach bought and converted the building at 901 Capital Avenue on January 20, 2014 into the present office. With customer satisfaction, Roach Home Improvement was still growing. Roach Home Improvement bought an adjacent property and built a warehouse for more material and tool storage so the crews could be better prepared to stay on schedule.

Their employees DO NOT respect the neighborhood they chose to open their business in. I called to ask them to move a car they parked in front of the driveway and the guy gave me a horrible attitude and told me I could have gone around and that he wasn't really parking us in. He also told me that he wasn't parked in front of the driveway.I called back to tell the guy's mom that her son was rude and she hung up me.Don't give these rude, disrespectful "people" your business.Update: The Mother and son walked over today to apologize for what happened the other day. I should say the mother apologized for her behavior and I appreciate that. The son said nothing, stood behind his mom, and walked away with her. When they got to the street he said, "That's great Mom, now they think I'm under your control." I might have a few words wrong there, but you can hear that he isn't apologetic at all.Thank you, Tracy for your apology.

I am astonished with the level of professionalism this company has every time I contact them. I have always been a true believer that I’d never see Jesus in my lifetime. But the way they repaired my roof felt like it was going from water to wine.

Roach quoted me a damaged roof replacement for 40 square after wind damage. Insurance measured my whole roof at less than 33 square and found only 2 square of damage. Roach NEVER gave insurance any proof of the whole roof damage they "found", and never adjusted the quote down from 40 to 33 square. Roach claimed 10% was necessary overage for the edge waste, but Roach tried to charge over 20% more than the size of my roof. Attempted insurance fraud.

We have used Roach Improvement several times…….. a roof repair from storm damage, later a new roof, additional attic insulation & baffles. A huge project involved removing sidewall insulation, cedar shake siding and then added Tyvek wrap, insulation and new siding. We were always pleased with the workmanship, quality of materials, professional behavior and their communication regarding our project status. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Each day scraps & leftover materials were removed keeping our yard neat. The crew was on time and explained their process thoroughly. It was great using a local company and appreciated their level of skilled employees.

I had another roofing company start removing shingles from my home when they were to be removing my neighbors roof. Luckily they were stopped before it went too far and they repaired the roof. I had Roach come and look at the work and they found they had done a shabby job, shingles were already lifting. They gave me an estimate and delt with the whole situation quickly and very professionally. I also thought the cost for repairing the "repair" job was very reasonable.

Post pandemic, there just not enough people to do the jobs that these companies profess to do. I left several messages and I never received a response. Roach did a good job on redoing a section of my roof. I called on some minor imperfections I noticed and the job manager came out personally to correct them, which was great! The interior ceiling took longer than I expected, but once they made it out, Dave and another gentleman did a really nice job and were friendly as well. The only thing I would say they could improve on is communication with guys they contract with on interior jobs. There was a bit of confusion, but it got sorted out, and Roach even did some extra work for free for our patience! Overall, Roach is a good company with good employees and go above and beyond to have the customer end up happy with their work.

My roof was leaking so I called for help. Chris from Roach came to help me figure it out. Turns out my roof was just old and wore out. He recommended a new one. They did a good job. They got it cleaned up nice too, that was important to me. Im too old to worry about going around cleaning up nails and stuff. Overall were very happy and these guys all were very professional.

Hail damage necessitated us to have a new roof installed.Roach was very prompt and courteous on giving us an estimate.The crew came on a 90 degree Monday in early September and stripped the old roof off into a dumpster which they provided. I was impressed by how hard they worked on such a hot day!Tuesday morning right back at it and installed a brand new roof and were done that afternoon, and I have a large roof.New gutters installed to perfection.The crew was meticulous about clean up of all scraps and old nails.I would not hesitate to recommend Roach to anyone for roof installation.

Following the June l, 2019 hail storm in Battle Creek, I found later I did have hail damage. It was late July when I had the insurance inspection, then waited for the claim to be processed and payments to be made to me. During that time I contacted several businesses for bids, but I was most impressed by Roach Home Improvement's personnel bid. They were honest when they said they were booked up until spring. So I chose to wait for them, went to their showroom and chose my shingles and began the wait. As promised, one day in early March 2020 when we were having a warm spell, they gave me a call with the date they would be coming. Soon I had shingles delivered, and then the dumpster. And on the last warm day before the weather was to change back to cold and snow, the team arrived and got to work stripping off the old roof. As each section was stripped off, another team was applying the new shingles, and they were nearly completely done when at five p.m. cold rain and icy hail started! They continued to work through it, finishing the entire roof, clean-up, and final inspection by 7 p.m. I appreciate their work ethic, the roof job (looks great) and the kind employees who worked on my site..
